Przyjęta metodologia opierała się na badaniach terenowych producentów, ocenie ich rocznych dochodów i analizie statystycznej danych. Wyniki pokazują, że 64% ankietowanych przyczynia się bezpośrednio do tworzenia miejsc pracy. 99% producentów stosuje metody tradycyjne. Tę preferencję dla tradycyjnych praktyk można wyjaśnić chęcią utrzymania reputacji madagaskarskiej wanilii na rynkach eksportowych. Jeden producent zidentyfikowany jako numer 6 zadeklarował roczny dochód netto w wysokości 10 650 000 Ar (test Kruskala-Wallisa: H = 3,714; p = 0,015). Niektóre grupy zbieraczy wykazują lepsze wyniki ekonomiczne, podczas gdy inne mogłyby skorzystać ze środków wsparcia w celu poprawy ich produktywności i rentowności (H = 3,777; p = 0,015; df = 7).
