Hic liber narrat fabulam de Philoctete, heroe Graeco qui vulneratus est a serpente et qui habet arcum divinum. Tamen, quia Philoctetes est doloribus afflicto, socii eius deserunt eum in insula Lemno. Postea, Ulixes et Diomedes missi sunt ad insulam Lemnum ut Philoctetem ad Troiam ducerent, quia sine arcu divino Graeci non possent vincere Troianos. Tamen, Philoctetes non vult ad Troiam ire, quia Ulixes et Diomedes eum deceperunt et reliquerunt in insula Lemno.
