Games and sports have been part of human life since ancient times. In the early days, they were essential for survival-such as hunting for food, seeking shelter, and protecting oneself from wild animals or enemies. Over time, these activities evolved into forms of recreation and gradually became an integral part of human culture. Today, games and sports serve as a powerful unifying force and contribute greatly to national and international integration. Sport is a way through which we use our physical abilities to play and stay active. It is crucial in many ways: when the body functions better, the mind also becomes sharper, as the two are closely connected. Sports help us relieve stress, momentarily forget our problems, and enjoy ourselves despite the pressures of daily life. Sport is both recreation and competition, offering individuals opportunities to use their leisure time in meaningful and refreshing ways. Sport also carries strong cultural significance. It plays an important role in people’s daily lives and brings communities together. For many, sport is central to their sense of identity, giving them a focus, a circle of friends with shared interests, and a structure around which they can organize their time and lifestyle. Globally, sport is valued for promoting physical health and overall well-being and is supported by educational, social, and health systems. At any age, engaging in physical and sporting activities improves fitness, sociability, and provides an outlet for natural competitiveness. In this way, sport serves a wide range of important functions in human life.
