El libro está conformado por una serie de viñetas eróticas que ocurren principalmente durante la dictadura argentina (1976-1983), en Buenos Aires y en el norte del país; más otras cuya acción transcurre en Estados Unidos y Europa en décadas posteriores. Se cuestiona la consistencia del yo autobiográfico y se abordan temas críticos relativos a la sexualidad, las relaciones homoéroticas, la familia, el Estado, el ejercicio del poder, la cuestión del cuerpo y otros aspectos culturales (raza, clase, sexo), desde una perspectiva queer. A lo largo de estas historias se deja leer una postulación sobre los márgenes de libertad (soave libertate) del sujeto en la modernidad.
