Osoby o niemal normalnej wrażliwości słuchowej w zakresie niskich częstotliwości i znacznym ubytku słuchu powyżej 2000 Hz są niezadowolone z tradycyjnych aparatów słuchowych ze względu na nadmierne wzmocnienie w zakresie niskich częstotliwości lub efekt okluzji. Aparaty słuchowe typu RIC są preferowane ze względu na niewielkie rozmiary, dyskretny wygląd oraz zdolność do minimalizowania efektu okluzji. Celem badania było porównanie wydajności aparatów typu Receiver-In-Canal (RIC) z aparatami z końcówką douszną (ET) oraz wkładkami usznymi (EM) w warunkach ciszy, przy stosunku sygnału do szumu (SNR) wynoszącym +5 dBSNR oraz 0 dBSNR. Losowo wybrano 30 osób z obustronnym, postępującym ubyciem słuchu przewodzeniowego (SNHL). Określono wyniki rozpoznawania mowy w zależności od różnych wartości SNR. Wyniki wykazały istotną średnią różnicę między dopasowaniem z wkładką uszną a dopasowaniem typu „Receiver-In-Canal' oraz między dopasowaniem z końcówką uszną a dopasowaniem typu „Receiver-In-Canal' w warunkach ciszy, przy SNR +5 dB oraz 0 dB, co wskazuje, że dopasowanie typu „Receiver-In-Canal' jest znacznie lepsze niż dopasowanie z końcówką uszną i wkładką uszną.
