Truskawka jest bardzo smacznym owocem. Nie pochodzi z Bangladeszu. Niniejsze badania pokazują, że wysoka częstotliwość występowania somaklonalnych odmian wśród roślin zregenerowanych w fazie kalusa może być wykorzystana w programach hodowlanych mających na celu ulepszenie truskawek. Somaklony te różniły się od siebie pod względem owoców i innych cech ogrodniczych i mają potencjał do komercyjnej uprawy w Bangladeszu. Profile RAPD zostały wygenerowane poprzez amplifikację genomowego DNA, wyekstrahowanego z próbek liści trzech wybranych wariantów i roślin kontrolnych, przy użyciu piętnastu losowych starterów. Profile RAPD wygenerowane przy użyciu losowych starterów AL-04 i O-05 wykazały charakterystyczne dla roślin polimorficzne wzory pasmowe, które mogą być wykorzystane do wykrywania zmienności somaklonalnej w truskawkach.
