Rival French Courts: The Experiences Of A Lady In Waiting At Sceaux, At Versailles And In The Bastille is a memoir written by S. H. Lombardini about her experiences as a lady-in-waiting in the French court during the 18th century. The book provides an intimate look into the lives of the aristocracy and their daily routines, as well as the political and social intrigues that took place at the time. Lombardini describes her time at the court of Sceaux, where she served under the Duchess of Maine, as well as her later appointment to the court of Versailles under King Louis XV. She also recounts her imprisonment in the Bastille during the aftermath of the infamous Affair of the Poisons. The book offers a unique perspective on the French court and its customs, as well as the personal experiences of a woman who witnessed some of the most tumultuous events of the era.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
