La ricerca è stata condotta durante la stagione delle piogge 2013 presso la Bayero University, Research Farm, Kano e Zakirai, Gabasawa Local Government, Kano State. L’esperimento mirava a studiare la risposta della Celosia (Celosia argentea L) alla concimazione azotata, ai metodi di semina e al tasso di semina nella savana del Sudan in Nigeria. I trattamenti consistevano in quattro livelli di azoto (0, 50, 100 e 150 kg di N ha-1), tre metodi di semina (a spaglio, a trivella e a spaglio) e due tassi di semina (basso e alto). I trattamenti sono stati disposti secondo lo Split Plot Design e replicati tre volte. I risultati hanno mostrato che l’applicazione di fertilizzanti azotati al tasso di 150 kg N ha-1 ha aumentato significativamente l’altezza delle piante, il numero di rami, il peso fresco delle foglie, il peso di mille semi e la resa in granella in entrambe le località. La diboscamento si è dimostrato superiore agli altri metodi di semina. Inoltre, i risultati hanno mostrato che le parcelle a basso tasso di semina hanno reso di più e hanno registrato un numero superiore di rami, pesi freschi e secchi delle foglie, peso dei mille semi, peso delle pannocchie e dei semi in entrambe le località. Sono state osservate interazioni significative, correlazioni positive e analisi di regressione e sono state tratte raccomandazioni definitive.
