Ce livre évalue la composition chimique de l’extrait aqueux de feuilles de Vernonia amygdalina par IRTF et identifie divers groupes fonctionnels liés à leurs activités biologiques. Les feuilles ont été collectées à l’université Joseph Sarwuan Tarka et à l’université d’Ibadan, au Nigeria ; après authentification, elles ont été traitées pour l’extraction. L’analyse FTIR a révélé d’importants groupes fonctionnels, tels que l’hydroxyle à 1021,29 cm-¹, l’amine à 1408,93 cm-¹, l’amide à 1558,02 cm-¹, l’alcène à 1636,80 cm-¹, l’alcyne à 2117,12 cm-¹, et l’alcool à 3287,51 cm-¹. Cela confirme donc que l’extrait contient divers composés bioactifs et que ses utilisations traditionnelles pourraient être recommandées pour d’autres applications pharmaceutiques et agricoles. Les travaux futurs portent sur l’isolement des composés individuels et sur des études plus approfondies de leur bioactivité.
