Les projets de construction sont limités dans le temps. Un retard dans la construction est une situation dans laquelle un entrepreneur et le maître d’ouvrage contribuent conjointement ou séparément à la non-réalisation du projet dans les délais initialement prévus ou stipulés dans le contrat. Les réclamations pour retard sont extrêmement complexes et difficiles à résoudre. C’est pourquoi les projets de construction de bâtiments nécessitent une méthode efficace et fiable pour minimiser les causes et les effets des retards dans la construction. Cette étude tente d’évaluer les causes et le niveau de prolongation des délais des projets de construction de bâtiments, les impacts des retards en termes de temps et d’argent, et d’aider les professionnels de la construction impliqués à mieux comprendre les causes des retards, à recommander des pratiques, des procédures et des méthodes pouvant être utilisées pour éviter les retards avant et pendant la phase de construction des projets de bâtiments, et à atténuer leurs impacts et les coûts associés dans les projets de construction de l’université Mizan-Tepi au cours des quatre dernières années.
