O estudo foi realizado em condições de estufa para determinar os efeitos da inoculação com estirpes de fungos micorrízicos arbusculares em diferentes níveis de zinco e as suas interações em termos de altura das plantas, peso fresco e seco das raízes e rebentos, rendimento de grãos de milho-miúdo, população microbiana, percentagem de colonização das raízes, N, P e K disponíveis e concentração de zinco e cádmio no solo após a colheita. Foram utilizadas interações de dois fatores com quatro níveis de inoculação de estirpes de fungos micorrízicos arbusculares, a saber, controlo não inoculado (Mo), Gigaspora ACP-1 (M1), Glomus ACP-2 (M2) e Scutellospora ACP-2 (M3) e quatro níveis de aplicação de zinco, a saber, 0, 150, 300 e 450 mg kg-1 de solo. O zinco foi aplicado como sulfato de zinco na forma de solução nos vasos em questão que receberam o tratamento. Assim, houve dezasseis tratamentos no total. Os detalhes de cada tratamento foram apresentados na tabela 3. Cada tratamento foi replicado seis vezes. As culturas eram Gigaspora ACP-1 (M1), Glomus ACP-2 (M2) e Scutellospora ACP-2 (M3), contendo cerca de 468, 554 e 540 esporos por 100 g de cultura, respetivamente.
