O livro avaliou o efeito de resíduos de moagem de arroz e de veios de óleo de palma (agro-resíduos) nas propriedades físico-químicas de um solo degradado, bem como determinou a resposta de crescimento de Corchorous olitorius aos resíduos aplicados. Isto com vista a determinar o tipo de resíduo agrícola mais eficiente para otimizar o rendimento de Corchorous olitorius em solos incubados na estufa. A configuração experimental foi um desenho completamente aleatório que consistiu em solos incubados durante cinco e dez semanas com emendas de palmeira descascada (PSA), palha de arroz descascada (RSA), palmeira descascada (PSU) e palha de arroz descascada (RSU) aplicadas a 0, 5 e 10 t/ha. Os tratamentos foram repetidos três vezes. Vinte e sete vasos foram incubados durante cinco semanas, enquanto outros vinte e sete vasos foram incubados durante dez semanas, perfazendo um total de cinquenta e quatro vasos, cada um contendo três quilogramas de solo superficial para o estudo. No final de ambos os períodos de incubação, foram plantadas quatro sementes de C. olitorius e desbastadas para dois povoamentos por vaso duas semanas após a plantação. Os dados sobre os parâmetros de crescimento, como a altura da planta, o número de folhas, a área foliar e a circunferência do caule, foram registados até 12 semanas após a plantação (WAP).
