Reminiscences of Life in Mysore, South Africa and Burma is a book written by R.S. Dobbs, originally published in 1882. The book is a personal account of the author’s experiences living in different parts of the world during the late 19th century. The first part of the book focuses on the author’s time in Mysore, a region in southern India. Dobbs describes the customs, traditions, and daily life of the people he encountered there, as well as his own experiences working as a civil servant for the British government. The second part of the book covers Dobbs’ time in South Africa, where he worked as a magistrate during the early years of British colonial rule. He provides a firsthand account of the conflicts between the British and the native Zulu people, as well as his observations on the social and political changes taking place in the region. The final section of the book is devoted to Dobbs’ experiences in Burma, where he worked as a district commissioner. He describes the culture and society of the Burmese people, as well as the challenges he faced in trying to govern the region effectively. Throughout the book, Dobbs provides a detailed and often personal account of life in these different parts of the world, offering insights into the social, cultural, and political realities of the time. The book provides a valuable historical perspective on the experiences of British colonial officials during the late 19th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
