Finalmente, en “La Virgen de las Siete Dagas” Vernon Lee ofrece su visión finisecular de la leyenda de Don Juan, ambientada en la Alhambra. Esta selección reúne relatos que transcurren en lugares considerados exóticos y que son abordados bajo una fascinante mirada orientalista. Un epílogo crítico contextualiza a este grupo de provocadoras escritoras que desafiaron las normas sociales y fueron por ello vinculadas al decadentismo literario. Esta antología demuestra cómo las Nuevas Mujeres anticiparon algunas de las preocupaciones e innovadoras texturas estilísticas del modernismo, por lo que sus cuentos cobran renovada relevancia e interés para lectores actuales.’
