Il tung (Aleurites fordii Hemsl) si distingue per l’elevata concentrazione di olio nel frutto (circa il 45%). L’olio di tung si distingue sul mercato per l’elevato potere essiccante, la resistenza e la stabilità chimica, motivo per cui è stato ampiamente utilizzato in Cina per la conservazione degli scafi delle navi, negli Stati Uniti per la conservazione delle attrezzature militari e attualmente dal mercato dei mobili. Il tung ha bisogno di 300-400 ore di freddo per rompere la dormienza e attualmente viene coltivato nel Rio Grande do Sul, uno stato con un clima simile all’estremo ovest di Santa Catarina. Ciò ha portato alla necessità di valutare il modo migliore di propagare il tung per adattarlo alle condizioni climatiche della regione. Lo scopo di questo studio è stato quello di valutare le prestazioni di talee di tung legnose, semilegnose ed erbacee sottoposte a diverse dosi di acido indolbutirrico. L’esperimento è stato condotto in una serra situata nell’area sperimentale dell’Universidade do Oeste de Santa Catarina (UNOESC), situata nel comune di Maravilha (SC). Il disegno sperimentale era interamente randomizzato (DIC). In un disegno fattoriale 3x3, con tre dosi (0%, 50% e 100% di acido indolbutirrico (AIB)) e tre tipi di talee.
