Secondo la RDC 306/04 dell’ANVISA e la risoluzione 358/2005 del CONAMA, tutti i servizi relativi all’assistenza sanitaria umana o animale, compresi i servizi di assistenza domiciliare e il lavoro sul campo, sono definiti come generatori di rifiuti del servizio sanitario (HSW). La ricerca analizza la gestione dei rifiuti in un istituto filantropico situato nella città di Adamantina - SP, che ha una capacità di ricovero di 120 posti letto. L’obiettivo della ricerca è stato quello di quantificare e classificare i rifiuti generati nella struttura sanitaria. La metodologia si basa sull’analisi quantitativa, con la collaborazione del Servizio di Igiene ed Estetica (SHE) dell’istituto. È stato possibile quantificare i rifiuti in litri al giorno e classificarli secondo l’Appendice I della Risoluzione ANVISA RDC 306/2004 e l’Allegato I della Risoluzione CONAMA 358/2005, e gli autori hanno osservato irregolarità nella gestione (segregazione e imballaggio, raccolta e trasporto interni, stoccaggio e raccolta esterna) dei rifiuti da parte dei professionisti.
