La qualità fisiologica dei semi viene normalmente valutata mediante test standard di germinazione e vigore. Tuttavia, in lotti con un elevato grado di eterogeneità, questi test possono avere una bassa sensibilità ed è necessario ottenere risultati affidabili in un breve periodo di tempo, garantendo un rapido processo decisionale in relazione alla qualità fisiologica dei semi. In quest’ottica, lo scopo di questo studio è stato quello di separare lotti di semi di soia, fagiolo e mais in termini di vigore, utilizzando l’attività respiratoria. A tal fine, tre lotti di semi di queste colture sono stati sottoposti a test standard di vitalità e vigore, come la germinazione, il conteggio della prima germinazione, l’indice di velocità di germinazione, la conducibilità elettrica, l’emergere delle piantine e l’indice di velocità di emergere in serra, la lunghezza e la massa secca della parte aerea e delle radici delle piantine dai test di germinazione e di emergere delle piantine e l’attività respiratoria.
