Rada miasta Namutumba jest jednym z szybko rozwijających się wiejskich ośrodków wzrostu we wschodniej Ugandzie. Badanie to zostało przeprowadzone w celu oceny systemu zaopatrzenia w wodę dla Rady Miasta Namutumba. Oceniono jakość i adekwatność dla obecnej i szacowanej populacji Rady Miejskiej, biorąc pod uwagę, że woda jest dobrem społecznym, a także, że zaopatrzenie w wodę jest jednym z głównych obszarów zainteresowania rządu Republiki Ugandy. Projekt był ograniczony do granic rady miasta Namutumba, planowanych obszarów zabudowanych, z głównym naciskiem na instytucje, szkoły, ośrodek zdrowia, kliniki i domy położnicze. Obejmował on analizę dokumentacji, badania topograficzne, projektowanie linii przesyłowych i dystrybucyjnych, testy jakości wody i dobór wielkości zbiornika. Obejmowało to również porównanie kosztów możliwych opcji uzupełnienia dostępnego systemu zaopatrzenia w wodę. Dostęp do wody pitnej jest nadal wyzwaniem dla Rady Miasta Namutumba.
