L’obiettivo di questo lavoro è stato quello di determinare la produttività economico-sociale dell’acqua utilizzata nella produzione di palma da dattero (Phoenix dactylifera L.) nel RDD (Distretto di Sviluppo Rurale) Comondú, Baja California Sur, Messico e di confrontarla con i corrispondenti indicatori della coltivazione di mais da granella (Zea mays) nello stesso RDD, utilizzando indicatori di produttività idrica fisica (PFA), economica (PEA) e sociale (PSA). La metodologia ha utilizzato i modelli matematici di Rios et al. (2015 a e 2018) che hanno permesso di stimare la PFA, la PEA e la PSA. I risultati mostrano che la PFA, la PEA e la PSA delle colture di datteri e mais da granella erano: in PFA: 0,103 e 1,550 kg m-3, in PEA: 0,083 e 0,009 dollari di guadagno per m3 e in PSA: 3,84 e 4,09 posti di lavoro hm-3 rispettivamente. La PEA dei datteri è risultata superiore a quella di colture come il mais da granella della stessa Ddr, il caffè piovoso del Chiapas, le noci di Chihuahua e Coahuila e il latte bovino di Chihuahua, ma inferiore a quella delle mele con uso basso, medio o alto di tecnologia di Chihuahua, dell’uva di Sonora e Coahuila, dell’avocado di Michoacán e delle pesche di Zacatecas.
