La crise énergétique mondiale, l’instabilité des prix des produits pétroliers, les préoccupations environnementales liées aux marées noires et aux émissions de gaz nocifs dans l’atmosphère constituent les principaux problèmes actuels liés aux sources d’énergie fossiles conventionnelles. Par conséquent, la recherche de nouvelles sources d’énergie alternatives, durables et renouvelables, telles que la biomasse, l’énergie solaire, l’énergie hydraulique et l’énergie éolienne, est devenue nécessaire. Ce travail de recherche s’est concentré sur la résolution des problèmes environnementaux liés aux sources d’énergie fossiles conventionnelles en produisant du biodiesel à partir de microalgues. Outre la production d’énergie à partir de microalgues, il est possible d’éliminer les nutriments des eaux usées.
