Foi realizado um estudo para o isolamento e caracterização de lipases (catalisadores baratos e versáteis para degradar lípidos em aplicações mais modernas) a partir de solos hiperalcalinos e hipersalinos. Entre as 15 estirpes isoladas, 9 isolados foram selecionados para a produção de lipase e um estudo mais aprofundado foi realizado, seguido da seleção dos melhores produtores de lipase. Além disso, a produção de lipase também foi medida na presença de vários parâmetros, ou seja, diferentes fontes de carbono lipídico, iões metálicos, temperatura e pH para otimizar o meio. Foram feitos esforços para purificar a proteína por precipitação com sulfato de amónio, filtração em gel e cromatografia de troca iônica. No entanto, no futuro, podemos considerar a caracterização genética e a seleção das estirpes mais desejáveis, que podem avaliar o seu potencial como culturas iniciadoras para uso comercial.
