L’uso di fonti di acqua salina nell’irrigazione può, a seconda della sua composizione, alterare negativamente le proprietà fisiche e chimiche del suolo e, a seconda delle modalità di applicazione, causare alterazioni nei processi fisiologici, biochimici e molecolari della crescita delle piante. In questo contesto, si è voluto studiare gli effetti dell’irrigazione con acqua salina (ECa) sulle prestazioni delle colture in terreni rappresentativi dell’Agropoli di Mossoró-Assu. Il primo esperimento è stato condotto nella serra del Dipartimento di Scienze Ambientali dell’UFERSA, Mossoró-RN, da maggio a giugno 2010, utilizzando melone giallo. Il disegno utilizzato era interamente randomizzato in uno schema fattoriale 5x6, con tre ripetizioni. I fattori testati erano cinque tipi di suolo: RQ, PVAe, CXve, RY e VX, e sei livelli di salinità dell’acqua di irrigazione (0,5; 1,0; 2,0; 3,0, 4,0 e 5,0 dS m-1). Il secondo esperimento è stato condotto in un disegno fattoriale 2x3x5 con tre repliche, utilizzando due tipi di suolo (PVAe e CXve), tre livelli di salinità (0,5; 2,75 e 5,0 dS m-1) e cinque colture: melone, fagioli, sorgo, mais e peperoni.
