Le perdite post-raccolta rappresentano un problema importante e causano una notevole perdita quantitativa e qualitativa di frutta e verdura nei paesi in via di sviluppo. La maggior parte delle perdite è causata o influenzata dalla gestione dei prodotti freschi a livello di azienda agricola. Lo studio è stato quindi condotto per conoscere la situazione esistente a livello di azienda agricola nella gestione dei prodotti freschi dalla raccolta alla commercializzazione. I dati sono stati ottenuti tramite interviste utilizzando un questionario prestabilito e tramite osservazioni nei campi di raccolta nelle principali aree di coltivazione di frutta e verdura selezionate (guava, banana, pomodoro e cavolfiore) nello stato indiano del Tamil Nadu.
