Cele badania były następujące: zidentyfikowanie czynników społecznych i kulturowych, które wpływają na postawy uczniów wobec integracji; ustalenie postaw nauczycieli wobec edukacji integracyjnej; zbadanie opinii administracji szkolnej na temat postaw uczniów wobec integracji; zbadanie roli, jaką odgrywa Ministerstwo Edukacji w rozwiązywaniu kwestii postaw uczniów z dysfunkcją wzroku i bez niej wobec edukacji integracyjnej. Badanie przeprowadzono w dwóch zintegrowanych szkołach podstawowych w Nairobi, a populacja docelowa liczyła 886 osób, w tym urzędników Ministerstwa Edukacji (MoE), dyrektorów szkół, nauczycieli klasowych i uczniów. Zastosowano celowy dobór próby dla wszystkich uczestników. Próba składała się z dwóch urzędników MoE, dwóch dyrektorów szkół, siedmiu nauczycieli klasowych, 12 uczniów z VI i 40 uczniów widzących. W badaniu wykorzystano dwa narzędzia, a mianowicie kwestionariusze i przewodnik do wywiadów. Wyniki wskazały, że dyrektorzy szkół i urzędnicy MoE postrzegają edukację integracyjną jako dobry pomysł. Jednak większość rodziców nie interesuje się integracją i angażuje się w nią w niewielkim stopniu.
