Pilkerton’s Peerage: A Comedy in Four Acts is a play written by Anthony Hope and first published in 1908. The play follows the story of Lord Pilkerton, a wealthy and influential member of the British aristocracy, who is desperate to secure a title for his family. In order to achieve this, he sets his sights on marrying his daughter to a titled gentleman, but things don’t go according to plan when his daughter falls in love with a commoner. The play is a witty and satirical look at the social conventions and hierarchies of the British upper class, and explores themes of love, class, and ambition. With its sharp dialogue and clever plot twists, Pilkerton’s Peerage is a classic example of British comedy from the early 20th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world’s literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
