L’effetto dei cambiamenti nel microclima prodotti dalle condizioni della serra in polietilene e della serra in rete sulle caratteristiche di crescita delle piante e sulla resa di biomassa della Bhui Amla è stato studiato dall’8 agosto 2008 al 31 dicembre 2008 in un esperimento condotto presso il Nagarjuna Medicinal Plant Garden, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola. La struttura della serra a rete ombreggiante di tipo Quonset modificata, di 17 m x 4 m, era coperta da una rete ombreggiante al 50% e da un film plastico stabilizzato ai raggi UV. La temperatura della serra a rete ha registrato una temperatura diurna inferiore rispetto al campo aperto, mentre la serra ha registrato una temperatura diurna superiore rispetto alla serra a rete e al campo aperto. L’umidità relativa e la concentrazione di CO2 erano maggiori nella serra rispetto alla serra a rete e al campo aperto, mentre l’intensità luminosa era inferiore rispetto alla serra a rete e al campo aperto. Nel mese di ottobre è stata osservata una fase iniziale dioidi, che è stata controllata spruzzando un fungicida, ovvero sulphex 0,01%. L’altezza delle piante, il numero di foglie e la resa totale di biomassa sono aumentati nelle condizioni della serra in polietilene e della serra con rete rispetto alle condizioni del campo aperto. La resa all’interno della serra in polietilene è stata misurata in 3,95 kg e 2,39 kg in più rispetto alle condizioni del campo aperto.
