Heilpflanzen spielten mit dem Segen „Gottes' eine wichtige Rolle bei der Erhaltung der menschlichen Gesundheit. Maerua pseudopetalosa wird in einigen Teilen des Sudan traditionell als Hustenmittel und zur Behandlung von Tumoren eingesetzt. Dementsprechend entstand der Bedarf an einer wissenschaftlichen Untersuchung zur Identifizierung der natürlichen bioaktiven Verbindungen der Pflanze. Dies geschieht durch die Bewertung ihrer phytochemischen Verbindungen, ihrer antimikrobiellen Aktivität und ihrer Toxizität. Die bei der Fraktionierung und Identifizierung der Verbindungen angewandten Techniken basieren auf chromatographischen und spektrometrischen Daten. Es wurde erfolgreich nachgewiesen, dass einige ihrer chemischen Bestandteile eine neue potenzielle.
