As plantas invasoras modificam a composição e a estrutura dos ecossistemas, levando ao desaparecimento de muitas espécies indígenas. Na África Ocidental, e particularmente no Burkina Faso, a Senna obtusifolia é uma dessas plantas invasoras cuja invasão levou a uma redução das forragens naturais, que continuam a ser a principal fonte de alimentação do gado. O objetivo geral deste estudo é contribuir para uma melhor gestão das zonas pastoris através de um controlo eficaz da S. obtusifolia. Assim, pretende-se propor soluções potenciais para controlar a invasão desta espécie. Para compreender o conhecimento endógeno das pessoas sobre S. obtusifolia, foram realizados inquéritos etnobotânicos dirigidos a 300 pessoas em aldeias próximas de zonas pastoris. Em seguida, foram efectuados inventários fitossociológicos e uma avaliação da biomassa das espécies herbáceas.
