Enquadrando-se no âmbito da psicologia da orientação, realizada numa perspetiva psicossociológica, a presente investigação incide sobre um dos fundamentos do pensamento social ativo, as representações sociais. Estas últimas constituem, na nossa opinião, uma das variáveis psicográficas moderadoras, discriminatórias e até determinantes na elaboração de projetos escolares e profissionais.Além disso, o nosso estudo incide, por um lado, no impacto do contexto escolar em termos de moldagem da relação com o futuro, expressão das escolhas de orientação, reforço ou redução das desigualdades e, por outro lado, no efeito da instituição escolar frequentada nas aspirações escolares e profissionais.
