L’élimination des déchets solides municipaux dans des décharges est une méthode très répandue dans la plupart des pays. Après l’élimination, les déchets se dégradent, générant des lixiviats comme l’un des sous-produits résultants. Dans la présente étude, les doses et conditions optimales du procédé Fenton ont été déterminées par étapes et les performances du procédé ont été évaluées en prenant comme indicateurs la réduction de la couleur et de la DCO analysée au début et à la fin de chaque étape du procédé Fenton. L’élimination de la DCO, de la DBO5 et de la couleur par le procédé Fenton a atteint 95,12 %, 80 % et 99,3 %. Les alcanes, les alcènes, les alcools cycliques, les alkylamines acycliques, les HC aromatiques ou polycycliques, les cétones, la matière organique avec des cycles benzéniques et toutes les macromolécules organiques complexes présentes dans la CL ont été complètement éliminés. Les espèces d’EMAG à chaîne unique sont restées réfractaires dans le lixiviat final. L’IB a considérablement augmenté pour atteindre une valeur de 0,48, ce qui convient à l’application d’un post-traitement biologique.
