As a ruling elder and Bible study leader for more than fifty years, the author has heard many prayers offered by hundreds of different people. Over these many years it has become his firm conviction that the greatest tragedy in many Christians’ lives is their failure to pray in a manner that is acceptable and pleasing to God. It is also the author’s firm belief that the quality and vigor of Christians’ lives are directly dependent upon the effectiveness of their prayers. This lack of effectiveness in prayer results from a deficiency in the knowledge and understanding of the words and phrases the Bible uses to teach Christians how they are to pray. When knowledge and understanding of these words and phrases are developed and put into practice, the Christian’s prayers will contain the form and substance that make them effective andpleasing to God. Only a Prayer Away endeavors to clearly define those critical words and phrases so that the committed Christian may develop a more effective prayer life. Then they will be blessed and becomethe beneficiary of God’s 'precious and magnificent promises,' (2 Peter 2:4).
