We all love Wang Zengqi, for he is the Su Dongpo of our time. An Informal Portrait of Wang Zengqi' is a study of the renowned writer by Sun Yu. While presented in a biographical form, it distinguishes itself from a conventional biography. The book uses Wang Zengqi’s life journey as its warp and the tapestry of his personal relationships as its weft. Through chapters such as 'A Confucian Scholar,' 'A Literature of Love,' and 'The Poet-Professor,' it chronicles the pivotal events across different periods of his life. Simultaneously, it places Wang Zengqi in dialogue with other literary figures-including Fei Ming, Shen Congwen, Huang Yongyu, Lin Jinlan, as well as A Cheng and Jia Pingwa-offering comparative insights. In the author Sun Yu’s own words, the aim was 'to use Wang Zengqi as a lens through which to portray an entire generation of intellectuals.'《闲话汪曾祺》为孙郁研究著名作家汪曾祺的著作,以传记形式呈现,又区别于普通意义上的传记。
