Bisherige Konzepte zu Umweltmanagementsystemen sowie zur Umweltleistungsmessung und ‑bewertung sind mit deren branchenunabhängigen Formulierungen zu allgemein gehalten, um für eine konkrete effizienzorientierte Messung geeignet zu sein. So macht es die entwickelte Methodik erstmals möglich, eine Vergleichbarkeit der Ressourcen- und Energieverbräuche völlig unterschiedlicher Betriebe herzustellen.
