W badaniu zidentyfikowano i oceniono kluczowe wskaźniki wydajności stosowane przez firmy budowlane w południowo-zachodniej Nigerii; oceniono i porównano poziom wydajności firm budowlanych oraz zbadano czynniki wpływające na wyniki firm budowlanych w badanym obszarze. Miało to na celu dostarczenie wytycznych dotyczących wyboru odpowiednich wykonawców w badanym obszarze. Dane pierwotne uzyskano za pomocą ankiety przeprowadzonej wśród kadry kierowniczej, dyrektorów lub głównych partnerów firm, natomiast dane wtórne pochodziły z archiwów firm budowlanych na badanym obszarze. Informacje zebrano od 93 spośród 137 firm budowlanych wymienionych w katalogu Federacji Przemysłu Budowlanego (FOCI), które płaciły podatki przez trzy (3) kolejne lata. Firmy podzielono na małe, średnie i duże w oparciu o ich roczny obrót. Badanie wykazało, że firmy budowlane wykorzystywały głównie wskaźniki finansowe do pomiaru wyników swojej działalności. Ocena i porównanie małych, średnich i dużych przedsiębiorstw wykazało, że wyniki firm poprawiały się wraz ze wzrostem statusu organizacyjnego.
