La Colombie ne produit ni la pectine ni les huiles essentielles nécessaires pour couvrir la demande générée principalement par le secteur alimentaire et pharmaceutique. C’est pourquoi nous avons utilisé des écorces d’oranges de Valence provenant de la région productrice du département de Cesar pour les obtenir et observer leur application dans la production de gels. Dans un premier temps, l’huile essentielle a été extraite par entraînement à la vapeur, puis la pectine a été extraite par hydrolyse acide dans le but de valoriser le sous-produit de l’industrie du jus d’orange, qui peut ensuite être utilisé pour obtenir des engrais ou des aliments concentrés pour animaux. Ce travail vise à contribuer au développement agro-industriel de l’industrie colombienne, en particulier dans le département du Cesar, à augmenter la rentabilité des processus, à réduire les importations de ces produits et à réduire l’impact environnemental causé par la non-utilisation de ces déchets.
