Esta obra procurou refletir sobre o uso do crack, as estratégias de redução de danos, os seus efeitos nos usuários, sua efetividade em um serviço de saúde especializado no atendimento a usuários do crack e outras substâncias psicoativas, no município de Salvador- Bahia. A metodologia utilizada é uma análise documental da produção técnica e científica do serviço especializado para essa pesquisa, com respeito às estratégias de redução de danos e sobre o histórico do uso do crack. À análise documental foi acoplada uma pesquisa qualitativa realizada, através da técnica de entrevista semiestruturada aplicada a quatro profissionais de saúde, que atuam com as estratégias de redução de danos em usuários do crack. Teve-se como foco, avaliar os procedimentos, as estratégias de redução de danos, as dificuldades e os avanços das Políticas Públicas de Saúde. Os resultados evidenciaram a efetivação da clínica psicossocial nas ações desenvolvidas intra e extra muros do serviço estudado; o respeito aos direitos individuais no cuidado desenvolvido; a complexidade da técnica de redução de danos, as dificuldades advindas do preconceito para com os usuários de SPA e a consequente falta de parcerias dentro do próprio setor saúde e dos setores sociais para o melhor desempenho do cuidado de inclusão social. 10
