Como é que o empenho escolar afecta o desempenho dos alunos? Partindo da constatação de que o empenho académico dos alunos no Burkina Faso está pouco documentado, nomeadamente as correlações entre ele e o desempenho dos alunos, este livro propõe-se analisar o papel desempenhado por esta construção psicológica na determinação dos diferentes níveis de desempenho dos alunos. O livro analisa a relação entre três tipos de envolvimento - afetivo, comportamental e cognitivo - e o desempenho dos alunos. O livro sublinha a influência significativa do empenhamento escolar na qualidade da aprendizagem e, por conseguinte, no desempenho dos alunos. Mais especificamente, revela que o empenho cognitivo e afetivo são os mais fortemente correlacionados com o desempenho dos alunos. O tipo de comportamento, embora correlacionado com o desempenho académico, está em menor grau. O bem-estar psicológico está igualmente ligado ao desempenho académico.
