The author Alice Hein Schiel, the tenth child of Nora Maeand Hugo Hein, grew up in Somerville, Texas. In UniversityInterscholastic League writing competitions she won a four yearcollege scholarship in journalism, but opted to pursue Biblicalstudies. She worked as a proofreader and 'headline setter' for theSomerville/Burleson County Tribune and graduated from MidwestBible Institute with a two-year degree in Bible and ministry. Sheobtained Bachelors and Masters degrees in education from Sam Houston StateUniversity. Alice and her husband Bill Schiel who reside in Decker Prairie, Texasare the proud parents of four married children and seven grandchildren. Alicetaught Christian education classes for 30 years and public education (junior highand college) for nineteen years; most of the public education years were spentteaching in Magnolia, Texas ISD. Bill and Alice have always been active in theirlocal church serving in many ways such as elders, teachers, and Sunday Schooladministrators; and Alice has served as pianist/keyboard player for the churchpraise team for over 38 years. She has enjoyed writing curriculum, poetry, andvarious short pieces. This is her first published book.
