Praca ta powstała w związku z następującym problemem: jak wygląda nauczanie geografii w pierwszych klasach szkół miejskich w gminie Augustinópolis-To? W związku z tym ogólnym celem jest: poznanie nauczania geografii w pierwszych klasach szkół miejskich w Augustinópolis-To. Metodologia zastosowana do realizacji pracy polegała na przeglądzie literatury w celu uzyskania wsparcia dla uzasadnienia pracy, a także badania terenowe, w ramach których jako narzędzie do gromadzenia danych wykorzystano kwestionariusz z pytaniami otwartymi skierowany do koordynatorów pedagogicznych i nauczycieli pracujących w szkołach gminy, w którym stwierdzono brak dalszego kształcenia tych nauczycieli w zakresie geografii, ponieważ nacisk kładzie się na język portugalski i matematykę.
