Questo libro offre un’introduzione completa alla dermatofitosi, alla sua eziologia e agli agenti causali. Qui abbiamo descritto un nuovo sistema di somministrazione di farmaci per uso topico basato sulle nanotecnologie per un regime di successo della dermatofitosi. Si tratta di un tipo di infezione fungina topica, la causa più comune di insetti della pelle nel mondo, generalmente sottovalutata e ignorata. È comunemente causata da funghi eucarioti immensamente mortiferi e cheratinofili che invadono i tessuti cheratinizzati e generano diverse malattie da tinea nei Paesi mediterranei. Per la prima volta abbiamo fabbricato nanofibre/impalcature incorporate con un derivato tiocarbammato dell’antimicotico topico tolnaftato per eliminare completamente il dermatofita nel sito di infezione. A questo proposito, sono stati selezionati i gradi biocompatibili di Eudragit (ERL100 e ERS100) per garantire una migliore adesione al sito della dermatofitosi, un ampio assorbimento degli essudati durante il trattamento e la personalizzazione del rilascio controllato del farmaco.
