Este livro oferece uma introdução abrangente à dermatofitose, à sua etiologia e aos agentes causadores. Aqui descrevemos um novo sistema de administração tópica de fármacos baseado na nanotecnologia para um regime bem sucedido de dermatofitose. Trata-se de um tipo de infeção fúngica tópica, a causa mais comum de doenças de pele no mundo, geralmente subestimada e ignorada. É geralmente causada por eucariotas fúngicos imensamente mortificantes e queratinofílicos que invadem os tecidos queratinizados e geram diferentes doenças da tinea nos países mediterrânicos. Neste caso, fabricámos nanofibras/scaffolds incorporados com tolnaftato antifúngico tópico derivado de tiocarbamato pela primeira vez para eliminar completamente o dermatófito no local da infeção. Neste sentido, foram selecionados graus de Eudragit biocompatíveis (ERL100 e ERS100) para proporcionar uma melhor aderência no local da dermatofitose, uma ampla absorção de exsudados durante o tratamento e também para personalizar a libertação controlada do fármaco.
