Der Text beginnt mit einem umfassenden Überblick über die wissenschaftliche Literatur zum Thema Nachfolge, die mit dem Ausscheiden von Führungskräften aus Organisationen beginnen kann und bis zu den Gründen für ihre Absetzung aufgrund von Fällen von Korruption und finanzieller Veruntreuung reicht, die heutzutage so häufig vorkommen, dass sie die Nachrichten in den Medien im Allgemeinen überfluten. Anschließend werden die Grundsätze und bewährten Verfahren der Corporate Governance erörtert, wie sie von renommierten nationalen und internationalen Instituten, die sich auf dieses Thema spezialisiert haben, empfohlen werden. Abgeschlossen wird das Thema mit einer Fallstudie über zwei Organisationen des dritten Sektors, die in der Stadt São Paulo tätig sind.
