Исходя из необходимости знать физические вариации корма для мясного скота в системе содержания, что необходимо в связи с естественным поведением вида и существующей групповой иерархией, общий рацион, состоящий из концентрированного корма плюс грубые корма, его вариации и поведение животных по отношению к корму оценивались в течение примерно 12 часов. Работа проводилась в ходе тестирования эффективности кормления молодняка крупного рогатого скота (в возрасте около 15 месяцев) породы Сенепол с целью отбора лучших животных в группе и включения их в программы разведения для генетического улучшения породы с помощью эффективности кормления, измеряемой через остаточное потребление корма (RFC). Результаты исследования служат важным инструментом для производителей мясного скота, селекционеров и исследователей, которые используют эти тесты на эффективность и тип рациона для отбора лучших животных, показывая типы вариаций, которые могут существовать в рационах, способы их измерения и их влияние на потребление и производительность животных.
