Reis (Oryza sativa L.) ist das wichtigste Grundnahrungsmittel, das von mehr als sechzig Prozent der Weltbevölkerung verzehrt wird. Im Süden Gujarats wird Reis sowohl während der Regenzeit als auch im Sommer angebaut. Die Reissamen werden nach der Ernte für das nächste Jahr gelagert. Die die Samen infizierenden Pilze sind eine der wichtigsten Einschränkungen für die Reissamen während der Lagerung. Infizierte Samen keimen schlecht und können eine Hauptquelle für das Inokulum für neue, daraus gezogene Pflanzen sein. Es wurden Untersuchungen zur Assoziation der Mykoflora von Saatgut während der Lagerung und deren Auswirkungen auf die Keimung, den Vitalitätsindex mit verschiedenen Verpackungsmaterialien und Saatgutbehandlungen bei beliebten Reissorten durchgeführt . Die Samenproben von fünf Reissorten, GR-4, GNR-3, GNR-4, Gurjari und NAUR-1, wurden verwendet, um die Assoziation der Mykoflora von Saatgut auf den Samen beliebter Reissorten während der kurzfristigen Lagerung zu untersuchen.
