Jowett was born in Halifax, England in 1864. He was raised in a Christian home and trained in theology at Edinburgh and Oxford. His ministry was prosperous, he was known as one of the great preachers of the time and the churches where he served grew, with people lining up to hear his sermons. This book was first published in 1914, offering a meditation each day of the year on a short section of scripture. This version is reproduced beautifully with the original illuminated letters and illustration on each page.This version includes an index of Bible verses used for the daily meditations.
