Antimikrobielle Resistenzen stellen sowohl in den Krankenhäusern als auch in der Gemeinde ein großes Problem für die öffentliche Gesundheit dar. Unbehandelbare Infektionen werden immer häufiger erkannt, und da wichtige bakterielle Krankheitserreger immer resistenter werden, kann es aufgrund des Mangels an neuen oder alternativen antimikrobiellen Wirkstoffen zu schweren Ausbrüchen kommen. Bei 90 % der isolierten Patienten wurden Mehrfachresistenzen beobachtet. Alle gramnegativen Bakterien erwiesen sich als empfindlich gegenüber Colistin und Meropenem.
