Diese Studie untersucht die Beziehung zwischen Motivation, Metakognition und akademischer Leistung bei Lernenden des Englischen als Fremdsprache (EFL) in der Hochschulbildung. Sie zielt darauf ab, zu verstehen, wie diese Faktoren zusammenwirken und zum Erfolg beim Sprachenlernen beitragen. Die Studie verwendet einen quantitativen Ansatz, bei dem der Motivation/Attitudes Questionnaire (MAQ), das Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI) und akademische Leistungsnachweise eingesetzt werden.Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Schüler ein hohes Maß an allgemeiner Sprachlernmotivation aufweisen, wobei die instrumentelle Motivation höher ist als die integrative Motivation. Es besteht ein signifikanter positiver Zusammenhang zwischen Motivation und metakognitivem Bewusstsein, was darauf hindeutet, dass motivierte Schüler metakognitive Strategien effektiver einsetzen und so ihre Lernergebnisse verbessern.Pädagogisch gesehen schlägt die Studie vor, dass Englischlehrer sich darauf konzentrieren sollten, beide Arten von Motivation zu fördern und das Training metakognitiver Strategien in ihre Unterrichtspraxis zu integrieren. Dieser Ansatz hilft den Schülern, sich zu selbstregulierten Lernern zu entwickeln, die in der Lage sind, ihre Lernprozesse zu planen, zu überwachen und zu evaluieren.
