A partire dal Modello Ibrido di Kang (2000), è stato possibile ottenere la temperatura media del suolo nella regione di Pelotas-RS, basandosi principalmente sulle informazioni relative alla temperatura media dell’aria. Questo modello si basa su una relazione empirica tra la temperatura dell’aria e quella del suolo, nonché sulla fisica del trasferimento di calore. I risultati generati dal modello sono stati confrontati con i dati raccolti dalla Stazione Agroclimatologica dell’UFPel, situata a Capão do Leão-RS, nel periodo compreso tra il 1966 e il 1988. Sono stati analizzati i risultati della temperatura media del suolo stimata a profondità di 5, 10 e 20 cm. Per la profondità di 5 cm, il modello ha generato i migliori risultati di temperature medie giornaliere rispetto ai dati osservati. La stagione dell’anno meglio rappresentata è stata l’inverno, mentre quella estiva è risultata la più discrepante. La deviazione standard dei dati relativi all’intero periodo di osservazione si è rivelata identica al valore dei dati simulati. Inoltre, il modello ha riprodotto lo stesso modello di variabilità e valori medi dei dati osservati, sebbene si sia verificata una sottostima dei valori di temperatura per le profondità di 10 e 20 cm, nonostante la minore dispersione osservata rispetto ai valori misurati.
