A Física, a Química e a Ciência Física são as disciplinas com pior desempenho nas escolas. Na Namíbia, as Ciências Físicas continuam a ser um desafio, uma vez que muitas escolas não têm um bom desempenho em Ciências Físicas. Apesar do fraco desempenho, há algumas escolas que obtiveram classificações mais elevadas do que outras. Muitas vezes, estas escolas estão localizadas na mesma região geográfica que outras escolas com um registo de desempenho fraco. Por conseguinte, este estudo investigou práticas que poderiam ajudar a melhorar o desempenho académico dos alunos na disciplina de Ciências Físicas. Para a recolha de dados, foram utilizados os quatro domínios: planeamento e preparação, ambiente de sala de aula, instrução e responsabilidades profissionais. Os resultados deste estudo mostraram que o ambiente da sala de aula é um fator importante que ajuda os alunos a melhorar o seu desempenho em Ciências Físicas. Foram sugeridas estratégias de atenuação para reforçar o ambiente da sala de aula nas escolas com fraco desempenho. As conclusões deste estudo podem ser importantes para os Encarregados de Educação, Diretores de Escola, Chefes de Departamento e professores, pois podem informá-los sobre melhores práticas de ensino em Ciências Físicas.
