À medida que mais empresas da indústria de alta tecnologia dependem de revendedores independentes para a distribuição, a influência do programa de incentivos de canal aumenta. Esta tese analisará o efeito dos contratos de incentivos de canal baseados em resultados no desempenho da empresa. Além disso, analisará os efeitos de interação da cultura organizacional do fornecedor. A questão de investigação a que se responde é: 'Como é que os contratos baseados em resultados afectam a eficácia de um mecanismo de motivação (um programa de incentivos de canal)?' A sub-pergunta desta tese é: 'Como é que os diferentes tipos de cultura organizacional da empresa fornecedora afectam a relação entre os contratos baseados em resultados e o desempenho da empresa?' A investigação não encontrou efeitos significativos relativamente a estas hipóteses. A relevância académica deste trabalho reside na perspetiva da investigação. Enquanto a literatura anterior se centrou principalmente no lado do revendedor da relação, esta tese analisa o lado dos fornecedores. Este trabalho é valioso para os gestores, uma vez que fornece uma nova metodologia para examinar a cultura organizacional da concorrência e os seus resultados revelaram potenciais oportunidades no sector.
